AL East Contest Winding Down

The season finally winds down today, but not for the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays who are both tied for 1st going into the final game of the season. Tampa Bay plays the Kansas City Royals in the final game of a 4 game set, with Tampa having to win on the line. The Yankees play Boston in the final game of a 3 game set, 2 of the games being played yesterday with the Yankees and Boston tied one a piece in the series.

The Rays and Yankees are both determined to win today, but only one will rise to the top. In order for the Yankees to clinch the AL East, they would have to win and Tampa would have to lose. For Tampa to clinch the playoff spot, they would have to win in Kansas City and the Yankees would have to lose in Boston. If the Yankees and Tampa are in a tie when the season ends today, the title will go to Tampa Bay since they had won more games against the series with the Yankees (10 games to 8 games).

So in this contest, who do you think will win today? The Yankees or Tampa Bay, and who has the upper hand while fighting for the AL East? Please place your comments in the comment box below.
